Baseball is Back: Register Now and Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer

home-run-derby-pic-for-PLThe PBCC is heading back to three ballparks this Summer and you’re invited to join the fun!  Go to bat against breast cancer with us in Harrisburg, Lancaster and Erie.  We’re looking for batters and volunteers to fight for breast cancer survivors and their families.  Can we count you in?

Registration is now open for all three Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer home run derby events.  This year, we’ve introduced three fundraising levels for batters with an easy-to-use website for receiving donations. Sign up as an individual batter or create a team and invite your family and friends. We hope to see you at this summer!

2013 Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer Home Run Derby Series Ends Strong in Erie

C Wolf and Team for PLThe 6th Annual Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer Home Run Derby Season was one for the record books!  Batters, volunteers and faithful fans racked up thousands of points and raised thousands of dollars for survivors right here in Pennsylvania this summer.  Our teams crushed 24 home runs at 5 professional ballparks across the state.  The PBCC would like to thank our sponsors and participants for their continued support and enthusiasm in making the 2013 home run derby season a success!  For complete results and photos, click here or visit PAHomeRunDerby.org.

 

PBCC Northwest VP Swings for the Fences

Lesley Ridge with Pretty in PinkThe PBCC’s own Northwest Vice President Lesley Ridge stepped up to the plate at the home of the Erie SeaWolves this summer. Her team, Pretty in Pink, raised nearly $3,000 for survivors at its first appearance in a Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer Home Run Derby event.

PA Lawmakers Sport Pink, Raise Awareness at Derby Events

PA Lawmakers Derby for PLThe PBCC would like to send a big “Thank You” to PA Sen. Rob Teplitz and PA Rep. Brandon Neuman for promoting breast cancer awareness across the state at this year’s Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer Home Run Derby events. Your support and commitment to helping us find a cure for breast cancer is appreciated!

Rep. Neuman also racked up two homers and took home bragging rights at the home of the Erie SeaWolves!  Congratulations!

Summer Derby Series Finishes Strong

Jody RoofThe sixth annual Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer® home run derby series made its final stop of the summer in Erie on Tuesday. We couldn’t have done any of  it without our sponsors and 195 volunteers. The 57 teams and 13 individual batters gave us a lot to cheer about throughout the summer. The derby saw twenty-four balls knocked out of the park! John Furlong amassed the most amount of home runs with an incredible 5 out-of-the-park hits! Congrats to our overall champions, hailing from the York Home Run Derby, Bombs With Burt!

Final 2013 Derby Closes With a Bang

DSC07989The 6th annual Take A Swing Against Breast Cancer home run derby series saw its last action of the summer as teams took the field at Jerry Uht Park in Erie on Tuesday. In all, ten teams and two batters came out to support the PBCC. Neuman’s Crew, led by Representative Brandon Neuman and his two home runs, earned the top spot.

Clipper Magazine Stadium Turns Pink as Teams Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer

Guns of Roses without BoasThe latest installment of the Home Run Derby series saw a lot of action this past Saturday in Lancaster. Fourteen teams and four individual batters came out to Clipper Magazine Stadium to Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer®. In the end, Guns of Roses, a team of City police officers, beat out UTI to take home the pink bats. Guns of Roses was also the day’s highest fundraising team.

Team With Fitting Name Takes York Derby Title

DSC07877Bombs with Burt certainly proved they were capable of brandishing such a team name. They were able to nail four homers on Friday, helping to push them to the top spot in the York derby. Kevin Tracey hit the first home run for his team. The other three came from Jody Roof. In total, Sovereign Bank Stadium saw eight home runs hit during the day!
